ENGAGEMENT RINGS
Quality engagement ring isn’t just an expense – It’s a lifelong investment.
I thought I’d talk a bit about the value of things and money. Ironically, I’m writing this text on my iPhone, which cost around €1500 and will likely need replacing in a couple of years. But when it comes to an engagement ring—a symbol worn daily for roughly 50+ years—its true value isn’t immediately obvious.
Many men see buying an engagement ring simply as an expense, comparing it to short-term purchases like a new phone or other gadgets. However, an engagement ring is an investment that lasts a lifetime, with a value that only grows over time.
Engagement ring vs. iPhone – which is more expensive?
Let me put this into a simple comparison: a new iPhone costs around €1500. With an average lifespan of 2–3 years, this works out to roughly €2 per day. Sure, it’s cutting-edge tech that you use daily, but only for a few years. Plus, it’s easily replaceable—new models come and go, and soon, your “new” iPhone feels outdated or out of style.
Now, let’s compare this to an engagement ring. A diamond engagement ring, for instance, priced around €3000–5000, is worn daily for 50+ years, making its daily cost roughly €0.15. Not only does it far outlast any tech device, but the ring’s value—and especially its meaning—grows every single day. The more it’s worn, the more it symbolizes, and the greater emotional value it gains for the couple over time.
Calculation: Engagement ring vs. iPhone
iPhone: 1500€ / 2 years = 750€ per year
Daily cost: 2€
Engagement ring: 4000€ / 50 years = 80€ years
Daily cost: 0,15€
You don’t buy an engagement ring every day—ideally, only once in a lifetime. By investing in a high-quality and unique engagement ring, you’re choosing something that lasts a lifetime. It’s not just spending money; it’s an investment in a symbol that represents love and commitment. Choose an engagement ring as timeless and precious as your relationship.
